Production Research

Production research is research to find out more about the product you are trying to sell, and to find out the characteristics of the product, focusing on how the product is made, i.e. the production. Production research is essential when developing a new product. Companies carry this out so that they can see the commercial viability of the product, so that they can gather materials and provide content to help them develop the product and to plan the production and post-production process so that it runs smoothly. They need to know the commercial viability of the product so they can predict whether the product will be successful or not, or whether the product will be profitable or not. What the research involves depends on what the product is, whether it be a TV show, film, magazine, game or website.
